Sometimes, your work schedule gets ahead of you and you find yourself dragging your feet at the office. Whether it’s after lunch and you’re feeling ready for a nap, or it’s in the morning and you didn’t sleep well the night before, there are a few things you can do to wake yourself up. 1.  Get Some Sleep

There’s no chance that you can take a nap now, although there are some companies that encourage their workers to nap on the job. Most likely you do not have that option, so you will have to manipulate your schedule so you will have more energy throughout the day. Something that you can control, however, is the amount of sleep you’re getting every night. Try turning off your electronic devices an hour before going to sleep so they won’t keep you awake and distracted. You can also try taking a sleep supplement that contains melatonin. 3.  Get Some Sunlight

Sitting under fluorescent lights for hours is painful to your eyes and doesn’t help your energy levels. Studies have shown that exposure to bright sunlight stimulates chemicals in your brain to help you feel more awake. Melatonin levels decline the more exposure to natural sunlight you have. In fact, studies have shown that getting up and taking a short walk outside can clear your brain and perk you up. Instead of taking a ten-minute coffee break, standing around and catching up with your co-workers, you can head outside for a brisk walk to wake you up. 4.  Get Hydrated

If you’re dehydrated, you are more likely to feel fatigued and unfocused. This is because the blood flow to your brain slows down if you are not hydrated enough. It’s hard to muster up energy at work when you’re feeling exhausted. However, instead of sitting at your desk wishing you were in bed, you can be proactive to wake yourself up. You can use some essential oils like peppermint to give yourself a push to stay awake. And make sure you’re getting a full night’s sleep so you’ll feel refreshed the next day.
